Sphere Medical works with leading medical device companies to develop and commercialise highly innovative monitoring products based on Sphere’s unique disposable microanalyser technology that provide clinical and economic benefits in the critical care environment. The microanalyser platform can be used to measure a range of important clinical analytes including pH, glucose, potassium, sodium, calcium, oxygen, Hct and carbon dioxide. The analyser can make repeated measurements over a period of several days in any physiological fluid, including blood, plasma, dialysate, urine, cerebrospinal fluid or the gastro intestinal tract.
The sensing technology used in Sphere’s microanalyser is well established and is used in most clinical chemistry analysers. However, by miniaturising and mass producing the technology, Sphere has made it possible to attach an individual high quality analyser to each patient, or to integrate an analyser into life support systems used in critical care, such as dialysis and heart lung machines.
