Seamless transfer of blood gas and electrolyte test results from Proxima directly into electronic patient records

The Proxima system outputs all patient sample and QC measurement results in HL7 format via an Ethernet connection for storage in electronic record systems. This ensures the seamless transfer of blood gas and electrolyte test results from Proxima into laboratory information systems (LIS) and electronic patient records (EPR).  This enables POC Coordinators to oversee results and monitor remotely the use and performance of the ex-vivo analyser and hospital staff to see all patient results easily via the Hospital Information System (HIS). For further details of export data formats, please contact Sphere Medical customer support.

Third party interfaces are available for data integration into the following middleware data management applications:

Connectivity to IntelliBridge Open Interface

Patient results can be transmitted from the Proxima system into selected Philips monitors via the IntelliBridge Open Interface.

Transmitted data

Proxima will transmit the following data:

  • Patient ID
  • Patient Date of Birth
  • Date of measurement
  • Time of measurement
  • File number
  • Label, value and units for each measured or calculated parameter

Compatible Philips Patient Monitors

Proxima is compatible with the following Philips Monitors

  • Philips CMS monitor family Software Release C or higher
  • Philips IntelliVue MP40/50/60/70/80/90/MX400/500/550/600/700/MX800 Software Revision H.15 or higher

The Philips monitor should be fitted with an EC10 Intellibridge Interface module connected to an EC5 Interface Module.

Proxima Monitors

The Proxima Monitor can be configured to connect to the IntelliBridge Open Interface. The connection is established through the Proxima Monitor USB port using an adaptor provided by Sphere Medical.

Connectivity to Conworx

All results produced by Proxima are reported to its bedside monitor. With data transfer achieved through connecting to the Conworx family of information systems, Proxima test results can be seamlessly transferred into electronic record systems and use and performance can be monitored remotely.

How does it work?

Conworx’ POCcelerator™ and UniPOC™ are middleware data management products. The new interface includes direct connectivity into Clinisys laboratory information management systems (LIMS) through the CliniSys PoCT Solutions interface. Both Conworx and CliniSys software solutions are widely used in hospitals internationally, in up to 1800 hospitals in 25 countries.

Conworx’s middleware solutions provide connectivity for more than 150 different device types as well as the most used patient record systems.

CliniSys software systems are used in over 2500 laboratories in 35 countries. Including 40% of NHS Trusts in England and Scotland. With a further significant presence in Germany, Netherlands, Belgium, France and Spain.
